On the 23rd of Nov, I received a call to inform me that I was one of the few that were selected to trial test the new Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S, proudly sponsored by M1. Every picture I took turned out to be flawless with ‘sharp details’, as quoted by one of my friends. With its 1.4Ghz processer, the phone does not lag at all. It also comes with Facebook inside Xperia, which gives you deeper integration of Facebook services with the Xperia arc S. For frequent Facebook users like me, this application allows us to share apps and music easily with my facebook friends and also access my photos via the phone’s gallery. I couldn’t stop taking pictures and posting them on Facebook and by the end of the week, I was won over. SONY ERICSSON XPERIA RAY BLEW ME OFF!

For the first time, I finally got to have the use of two phones at the same time! And it is awesome! Especially when my own phone is cranky with one third of the LCD screen being permanently white due to the excessive overtime that my phone has been working. Now, things seem to be more organized! =D
So it is time to introduce the star of this blog!! It is none other than the Sony Ericsson Xperia ray, which also comes in three different colours – black, gold and pink. It is slim, sleek and classy. Just weighing at only 100g, it could easily slide into my skinny jeans and without seeing a bulk or feeling the weight. Definitely the best candidate for “going out partying phone”!
The Sony Ericsson Xperia ray is powered by GoogleTM Android 2.3 Gingerhead, a 1GHz processor, and a display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine that impressively creates a sharp and vivid viewing experience. What’s more, the screen is made of scratch-resistant mineral glass!
Like most girls, the first function that I played with once my black Sony Ericsson Xperia ray is fully charged is the Camera! The 8.1mega pixel takes crystal clear photos with features like auto focus, face detection, smile detection, touch-to-focus, image stabilization and red-eye reduction. It also has an Exmor RTM CMOS sensor, which has been a feature of Sony’s mid to high-end cameras, that let’s you take better pictures in low light condition! And not to forget, it is the best tool for girls to check themselves out with the front-facing camera on the Xperia ray!
If you are thinking that the flash only works for taking still photos, you are wrong!! It works like a torch too for video recording! The Xperia ray is able to take HD videos too. Tested and proven. The link below was the video taken as I was walking along orchard one evening, and happens to catch a commercial I did on the big screen of Orchard Central. And yes, I did stood there waiting for the commercial to be air again. Long enough to catch the perfect timing.
Next, Sony Ericsson Xperia ray’s interface for all the applications such as, Facebook, Twitter, and emails, is really user friendly. I am impressed with the email feature the most as it allows me to preview my mails, thus helping users like me (especially those who don’t clear their mails that often) to save time from going through every mail’s content. It works fast and drains less battery! I could keep things moving smoothly, while opening new apps and running several others at the same time with no sign of slowing down! Once, I tried uploading 12 images on to Facebook and it is done almost instantly. This is another plus point to Sony Ericsson Xperia ray being the best candidate as the “going out party phone”! Plus, the 12GB data bundle from M1’s smartphone plans made it even easier to upload and share on the go! There is also the TimeScape application that enables me to view all social media updates in a single scroll!!
Sometimes, typing a message is a hassle especially a long one. More, it just gets worse as I always travel around with loads of stuff in hand! It almost becomes a chore. But I realized that Sony Ericsson Xperia ray has solution to this!! It has a function called Google voice search, which enables us to verbally request the phone to Google for what I want and directs me straight to my search results! How easy it is now to Google for thing in time of urgency! Verbally requesting the phone to make a call to someone is also possible! Now Sony Ericsson Xperia ray really makes life easier for busy people! We can also swipe across the keyboards to form words that we want to type instead of tapping on the alphabets one by one!!!
One more thing I like about this phone is how the display goes off when we hit the standby button. The display decreases and disappears into a white line just like how an old TV set turns off. Although it is not a significant function but I just like it! *Memories. And what makes this phone a complete awesome deal for me is the M1’s plan! It provides me with unlimited free calls to three M1 users, and a free 12GB data bundle (only available with M1’s smartphone plans)!!! With SMSes being an inevitable part as much as I love to call, M1 has unlimited free SMS and MMS for students! Oh yeah!!! Sending as many MMS and SMS anytime I want with no fear of my phone bill exceeding the digits that is way too high for me to handle! Oh Wait! There’s free campus calls for students too!!

A DATE WITH CANON

Before joining my JC’s Photographic Society (PS), I’ve always thought that photography was just about taking pictures of people with peace signs against a nice background (Yes, very stereotypical of me :P) but through PS, I got to realize that photographs can do so much more. I got to learn various technicalities such as white balance, aperture size, shutter speed etc… But to me, the most important lesson I’ve learnt is that photography is about immortalizing a moment that has a very special meaning to you.
A few days ago, I visited Pulau Ubin and I tried snapping some photos with the Canon IXUS 230 HS. It is a really great compact camera because it is lightweight, slim, and at the same time, there are a huge variety of creative modes to choose from! Some examples include the Toy Camera Mode, Super Vivid Mode and the Miniature Mode. Furthermore, the auto focus is simply impressive as it reacts really fast to whatever that’s in frame!
I fell in love with the Toy Camera Mode because of its vintage feel and it really complements the whole laid-back feel of Pulan Ubin. Just look at the way this mode darkens out the sides of the photo and changes the saturation + contrast of the photos. It is as if I’m holding onto a digital Holga Camera!
There are so many other photos that I wanted to include but I’ve specially chosen these three. To me, these pictures portray Pulau Ubin to be an excellent escape from our hectic lifestyles. Sometimes if we come to think of it, local getaways can be as good as one that is a few thousand kilometers away simply because they allow your mind to be temporarily free from the worries and uncertainties one has about his or her life.
Well, I guess we just have to look a bit harder and soon enough we’ll realize that we’re actually blessed with many good things in life and it’d be great if we can immortalize these good things in the form of pictures to remind ourselves how lucky we actually are. And it’d be even better if we had a handy camera like the Canon IXUS 230 HS to help us capture these precious moments in life! (:

15 MINUTES MAKE UP!

With THEFACESHOP FaceIt Baked Eyeshadow 04 Pink Grey, we can easily achieve two different looks – School/Work and Party. The palette that I will be introducing contains 4 different colours (white, pink, dark brown and black) and the whole make up would probably take 15 minutes or less!
Now, lets start with the school/work make up.
Step 1: Apply your foundation and compact powder, followed by the white eye shadow at the tip of the eyelid.
* It would be good if you can apply it with your fingertips, as the pearl effect would be more noticeable.
Step 2: Apply the pink eye shadow at the outer part of the eyelid and try to blend in with the white eye shadow.
Step 3: Use eyeliner to define your eyes and a blusher to add more colour to your cheek.
Step 4: Finish the look with THEFACESHOP FaceIt Extreme Rouge Gloss (BR801).
Now, you are good with your school/work make up.
If you are attending a function or a party after school/work and you would like to define your eyes further, from the same palette (THEFACESHOP FaceIt Baked Eyeshadow 04 Pink Grey), you would be able to achieve another different look.

At first, I was quite nervous before using the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S because I’m so used to my iPhone! However, once I started using it, I was so amazed! It was so easy to use and very user friendly! The first thing that amazed me was how light and thin the phone is, it is very sleek and classy. I love bringing it out with me as it fits perfectly in my thin clutch and it doesn’t take space! I love the 4.2-inch display too; it is so clear and bright, as though I’m using my own computer! The system is very fast thanks to the powerful 1.4GHz processor, and upon starting up my Google account with the phone, I was able to explore the phone at such a quick speed and also get applications easily from Android’s market. Facebook inside Xperia was the first thing I used, and it was really fast and easy to upload photos and share my favourite apps and music without the need to open the facebook app.. What was interesting is that my phone was synced with Facebook! So in my media gallery, all my Facebook albums and Facebook tagged photos were there for me to browse through with such ease! Added with the 12GB data bundle from M1’s smartphone plans, sharing my photos and music on Facebook anywhere anytime is not an issue! The camera is really good and very clear; it has an 8.1 megapixel camera and I had so much fun taking photos of myself and when I’m out. The ‘touch capture’ and ‘touch focus’ are really good for taking pictures as you can just touch the screen to capture a picture! There is also a 3D camera which I played with and it was awesome as it has a sweep panorama and can capture beautiful images, very good if you’re traveling and want to take pictures of scenery! The phone’s camera is also very good in low light conditions because of the Exmor R for mobile sensor on the Xperia arc S! Overall, I really enjoyed this phone and I’m even considering getting it for myself!

CANON NEVER FAILS!

My favourite part of THEFACESHOP FaceIt Baked Eyeshadow 03 Coral Brown Palette is that the four
colours (White, Pink, Peach and Dark Brown) are not exactly matte! It provides a pearly effect
when I applied them onto my eyelids.
However, even with its shimmer, it does not look too fancy yet simple enough for everyday look! And if I were to recommend an eyeshadow, it would definitely be THEFACESHOP FaceIt Baked Eyeshadow as its natural blend and the warm colours of the palette provides a flattering touch on the skin. Additionally, the colour can stay on for almost six hours and still give a very fresh look. Honestly, I am very surprised that the colour did not wear off as I have tried many eyeshadow but many did not stay on my skin for long.
On top of that, THEFACESHOP FaceIt Extreme Rouge Gloss (BR801) is another product that I would love to recommend to my friends and readers! Even though the rouge gloss appears to be in a neutral colour but when it is applied onto my lips, it provides a very soft touch while enhancing the colour of my lips. It is very lasting and I do not have to go through the trouble of applying another lipstick to further enhance!
